13+ entry

Entry at 13+

Year 9 · September 2027

Children in Year 8 who have not taken the ISEB Pre-Test follow the 13+ route: an online cognitive abilities test, St Edward’s own English and Maths papers, then an interview for those progressing.

Year 9 · September 2027

  • Application and Sports Award deadline: Friday 9 October 2026
  • Online CAT4 and entrance papers: November 2026
  • Interview: For those progressing to stage two

Pre-test

Year 9 · September 2028 or later

  • Register: Ideally in Year 5 (£200 fee)
  • ISEB Common Pre-Test: October or November of Year 6
  • Interview and activity day: For candidates progressing to stage two
  • Unconditional offers: First week of March

14+

Year 10 · September 2027

  • Application deadline: Friday 9 October 2026
  • Online assessment and entrance papers: November 2026

Sixth Form

Year 12 · September 2027

  • Application and scholarship deadline: Friday 9 October 2026
  • 16+ online assessment: Late October 2026
  • Further assessments and interviews: November 2026

Most pupils join the Shell (Year 9), with around 150 places each year. There are also smaller intakes into Year 10 and the Lower Sixth.
